An Untitled Poem

{While glancing through some files on my computer, I came across this poem which I wrote a while back.  This was written about a time when I was very discouraged from a particular sin in my life.  Flipping through my Bible, the Lord caused me to notice a number of promises in His word that spoke to my heart and helped me to rejoice once again in the amazing grace of our great God.  It’s not  a great poem by any means; but here it is, nonetheless.}

“Rejoice in the Lord”
I think it cannot be done
For I’ve sinned once again
Against God’s holy Son

My mind should be set
On the things high above
Where my life is in Christ,
The great King of Love

Yet, my mind is below,
And all I can see
Is I’ve failed once again;
Why am I not free?

I come in Christ’s name
And for Your mercy I pray
Give me grace, show Your face
With Your answer don’t delay!

I have trusted in You
Make me clean now, I pray
For apart from Your grace
There is no other way.

He says He has heard
He says that my sin
Has been taken away,
Has been paid for by Him.

The Words of my God
Are sweet to my soul.
I am broken and worn
Still Christ makes me whole.

“Rejoice in the Lord”
What more can I do?
He has given my joy,
He has made my heart new!

You Are My King

Oh Lord, You are my Maker
The Lord of all the earth.
Eternal Creator,
Here I stand in awe of You.

(Chorus)
To You be the glory
All honor and fame.
Oh Lord, take my life
And lift up Your Name

Oh Lord, You are my Savior.
My life will now proclaim
How by grace You became poor,
Bringing sinners to Your name.

Oh Lord, You are my King.
Come make my heart all Yours,
And my mouth will ever sing
A new song of praise to You.

Your Way is Righteous

The following is a song that I wrote after some meditating on Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Oh Lord, I am weak
So I come to You
My God, lead my path
For Your way is true
For
(Chorus)
Your way is righteous
Your way is just
Your way is holy
In You I will trust
In You I will trust

My own understanding
So small, weak, and frail
I cannot rely on
It will surely fail
But
(Chorus)

In the path of God
In the truthful way
Therein guide my life
And lead me each day
For
(Chorus)

Passing…

Your life is a vapor
Here for a moment
And gone

You wish to look older
And then suddenly
You are

Each minute you waste
Has just left you
Forever

So spend your whole life
To serve and honor
Your King

Birds

Chirp-chirp-chirp, tweet-tweet-tweet
Simple songs and yet so sweet

Red, blue, yellow, black, and brown
Fluttering feathers fly around town

The swan, so graceful and so white
To see it, oh, ‘tis such a sight

Tap-tap-tap-a-tap-tap-tap
It’s a woodpecker, when you hear that rap

There is a gold finch – pretty wings
Yellow and gold. And you should hear it sing

Here is an oriole, orange and black
It likes to eat oranges, and makes a nest like a sack

A robin there. More common of the birds we see
But still we like them, perched on a tree

This poetic list could go on for pages
Yet couldn’t contain all birds, seen through the ages

But think about it and see
What a wonderful creator we have, you and me
